Final Trailer for Mufasa: The Lion King
Discover the journey that forged a kingdom.
Mufasa: The Lion King takes us deep into the heart of the Pride Lands with an unexpected look at the rise of one of Disney’s most beloved characters. In this origin story, Rafiki recounts the legendary life of Mufasa to young Kiara, Simba and Nala’s daughter, with the comedic duo Timon and Pumbaa adding their classic charm along the way.
Told through flashbacks, we meet Mufasa not as a king, but as a vulnerable orphaned cub, lost and alone. His life changes when he encounters Taka, a lion of royal descent, and together they embark on an epic journey with a group of misfit allies, all searching for their destiny. The story explores the trials that shape Mufasa into the lion he would ultimately become, testing his loyalty and courage as he faces a deadly adversary.
Directed by Barry Jenkins, Mufasa: The Lion King features a star-studded cast, including Aaron Pierre, Kelvin Harrison Jr., John Kani, Tiffany Boone, and Thandiwe Newton, with voices from favorites like Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner, and Beyoncé Knowles-Carter. With songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda and groundbreaking visual effects blending live-action techniques with photoreal CGI, this new chapter in The Lion King saga roars into theaters on December 20, 2024.
